In March 2010 the Museum of Modern Art held a wildly successful retrospective of Marina Abramovic’s work in which the artist herself was an exhibit, sitting silently at a table gazing at visitors across from her. The exhibit’s popularity had raised her public profile, expanding the platform for her playful, inventive performances and public experiments.
In New York she recently conceived of a $20 “Volcano Flambé” dessert with Park Avenue Winter’s executive chef, Kevin Lasko in association with Creative Time for their first of four artist-chef collaborations. It comes with a box with headphones and voice-over instructions on how to eat the Baked Alaska.
