The Secret of Happiness: The Supper Club and SPREAD|Artculture Host A Party for Shepard Fairey

SPREAD|Artculture magazine co-hosted a party with The Supper Club in honor of iconic artist Shepard Fairey at the H.Wood Tea Room. Party-goers were treated to bespoke Bombay Sapphire tea-based cocktails that were paired with sumptuous Indian food from Deep Sethi, owner of Bombay Palace and Nirvana in Beverly Hills.

Shepard Fairey is the founder of creative agency Studio Number One. At the after party, Studio Number One’s animated art became part of an interactive texting experience where guests were invited to text their answers to the question “The secret of happiness is…”. Answers were displayed throughout the night for everyone to see.

Julie Davis’ romantic comedy on the adult film industry Finding Bliss, premiered at Manhattan’s Museum of Sex. While guests browsed sheepishly around cases of strawberry-juice condoms and yard-long purple vibrators, the film’s leads, Leelee Sobieski and Kristen Johnston breezed in with a noisy entourage to introduce the screening. The film summons stereotypes on both sides of the Hollywood gutter – those climbing the rungs of major movie studios, and those equally desperate, actors in the porn industry (excuse me, adult films), where the brown-nosing is more clearly sanctioned.

Last Thursday night played host to another superbly cultural—and culinary—event at the Jonathan LeVine Gallery in Chelsea. Gary Baseman, the curator of the gallery’s newest exhibit, True Self, hosted a dinner put on by SPREAD ArtCulture in collaboration with New York’s Supper Club and the American Friends of the Louvre. The evening was sponsored by Domaine de Canton and AriZona Vapor Water. The three-course dinner was preceded with a walk through of the gallery by Baseman, who gave a synopsis of the show’s background, as well as a beautifully choreographed glimpse of each artist who is participating in the show.
